More big gusts are coming after a lull Tuesday.
The National Weather Service forecast conditions similar to Monday's nasty gusts by early Wednesday.
"It will gradually increase so we could see a repeat of what happened (Monday)," said NWS lead forecaster Ray Tanabe.
The winds will be in the 25-to-30 mph range with isolated gusts of up to 60.
The southwest gusts will precede the second cold front of the week, which should reach Kaua'i early Thursday and O'ahu by midday, Tanabe said.
Rain is expected Thursday when the front moves toward the Big Island.
Weather will start improving Friday. "The weekend is looking good but it'll be a little cooler," he said.
