Cat rescued from condo fire recovering

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — A cat nicknamed "Hot Stuff" after being pulled from a condominium fire last week will probably survive.
The male cat was pulled from a massive blaze that engulfed a downtown condo project that was under construction.
The creature suffered burns to 10 to 15 percent of its body, including its feet, back legs, face and ears. It was put on intravenous drips and pain-relief medicine.
The animal is being cared for by medical staff and the Escondido Humane Society.
"We're playing the waiting game now," spokeswoman Jennifer Dolan said. "We're waiting for the left leg to heal so it won't need to be amputated."
It will take up to three weeks to know for sure if Hot Stuff will fully recover. If the cat does, the Humane Society will offer it for adoption.
The feline appeared to be on the mend Tuesday, and was seen tucking into a can of food.
"He was purring a little bit," Dolan said. "He felt well enough for people to pet him."
