ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Go with the Flow

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Descend into the hip-hop underground for the dopest new party in town — FLOW. Billed as "a platform for Hawai'i's hip-hop artists," the event happens every first Friday, when hip-hop heavyweights take the stage at The O Lounge. This Friday, MCs Creed Chameleon, Al Vegas and Wun hold down the mike while the Red Eye Jedi B Boy crew flip and pose in contortionistic positions during break dance sets. The evening culminates in a freestyle battle of words and wit for the championship belt. Yes, an actual belt. Doors open at 9 p.m., 21 and older welcome. For more info: flowfriday@hotmail.com.

RADIO HEADS

For more than 15 years, KTUH's Monday Night Live has been a lab for staff to learn basic audio engineering. Local bands of any genre with 60 minutes of original music play in the studio from 10 to 11 p.m. while you listen as you drive on the H-1. Michelle "DJ Catwings" Takiguchi took over as host last summer, and she's got a great lineup over the next month. On tomorrow: "poppy, dancy, indie" Dolls Till Daylight, above. Next up: Le Tenia, Black Square, Linus and Tempo Valley. Tune in to 90.3 FM.

SHINY, HAPPY BAUBLES

There's just one degree of separation between the Murano glass blowers of Venice, Italy, and INTO (40 N. Hotel St., 536-2211), the Chinatown nook of fabulous finds for self and home. That's 'cause importer Connie Owens of Waipahu works directly with the renowned artisans to create the island-bright glass-bead baubles the shop carries. (Hey, Murano is an island, too!) The relationship means a minimal markup. Rings: $39. Necklaces: $65.
