As part of its Dark Nights series, Kumu Kahua Theatre presents an encore performance of "Aging is Not for Sissies!"
It presents an eclectic array of funny and poignant monologues, "real stories told by real women," that gives the audience a firsthand glimpse into the inner workings of single women ages 60 to 100 in a culture that worships youth.
Author Pratibha Eastwood is a Honolulu psychologist and author of "Nine Windows to Wholeness." She began interviewing women after an epiphany six months shy of her 65th birthday.
"I wanted to create an entertaining presentation that would challenge the myth that being over 60 means a woman is, 'over the hill with one foot in the grave!' " she said.
The show is performed in concert reader's theatre style with a cast including Eastwood, award-winning director/actor Joyce Maltby, and award-winning actors Jo Pruden, Sylvia Hormann-Alper, Blossom Lam Hoffman and Roshani Shay.
The show will play on Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Kumu Kahua Theatre, corner of Merchant and Bethel streets. Tickets are $10. Information: 536-4441.
