Honolulu Marathon $20 fee ends Sunday

Early walkup registration for the Dec. 9 Honolulu Marathon is being accepted through Sunday at Niketown in Waikiki.

So far, more than 2,000 have signed up. Last year, a record 3,070 signed up during the early registration period.

Entry fee will be $20 for all Hawai'i residents and military persons stationed in the state. The fee includes a commemorative ChampionChip timing chip. The chip laces into the runner's shoe and interfaces with timing mats along the route to produce a precise timing record.

Registration will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
