Callies of 'Prison Break' awaiting bundle of joy

ITEMIZATIONS: TV Guide reports that Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Dr. Sara Tancredi, a prison doctor on Fox's "Prison Break," is infanticipating her first with husband Josh Winterhalt this summer. The 1995 Punahou grad is the daughter of David Callies, a law professor at the University of Hawai'i, and Valerie Wayne, a UH English professor. ...

Annie Wood, wife of actor Henry Ian Cusick (who was Desmond on "Lost"), has found her way to the Honolulu Theatre for Youth board of trustees, along with new member Lance Wilhelm. Marcia E. Lee, an HTY trustee for 10 years, is new president, succeeding Tim Bostock. ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: With the growing accolades for the movie "Dreamgirls," singer Ginai K. Curti is getting calls. Why? She appeared in Tommy Aguilar's 1989 stage version at the Hawai'i Theatre, as well as with Jennifer Holliday in a version at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta in 2002. Folks who had some attachments to both productions have been ringing her up and popping into see her Friday performances with Pierre Grill at The Dragon Upstairs on Nu'uanu Avenue. Ginai was Lorelei in the local show, Michelle in the Atlanta version; Effie originator Holliday (Jennifer Hudson's the big buzz in the movie version) hired Ginai for the Atlanta show. ...

'Ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro sat in with the James Kraft Trio last Thursday at the Diamond Head Grill. ...

Ocean Vodka's Shay and Dyanna Smith are on the road with their great Maui product at Park City, Utah, at "Green House," a week-long event that coincides with the Sundance Film Festival now under way. It's an interactive entertainment-based program at a private residence — but with some very public folks.

"Desperate Housewife" Teri Hatcher was the first celebrity to plunge in last weekend.

Another night, the Smiths staffed the bar and served their signature Ocean Vodka cranberry-liliko'i cocktails at a private birthday bash that singer-actor Justin Timberlake threw or his mom, Lynn Harless. ...

Glenn Watson, a friend of the aforementioned Ocean's Smith family, helped rocker Greg Allman and his backup band haul their equipment for the Maui show. The musicians were given Ocean T-shirts, and one of 'em wore it at last Saturday's gig at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. ...

"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" playing through Sunday at the Manoa Valley Theatre, has been attracting out-of-towners because their pals are in the cast. Karen "Bree" Bumatai's (Marsha) chum, Karima Tatum, was in the opening night crowd; ditto, Liz Hendrix, who is Genny Wilson's (Honey) mom. One night, John Stevenson (Nick) got off stage and declared, "I think I just saw my parents." Sure enough, Rich and Alberta Stevenson popped in from Vallejo, Calif., to surprise their son. ...

Michel Rolland, who is to wine what Tiger Woods is to golf, dined at Vino Restaurant at Kapalua. The French winemaking consultant ordered French wines that, local expert Chuck Furuya says, are "hard to get," including Domaine Gaston Huet from Vouvray and Domaine Grange des PEres from southern France. Needless to say, Vino managers Aaron Trujillo and Ed Mikesh were thrilled with Rolland's visit. ...

RANDOM NOTES: Na Leo performed the national anthem at the Senate's opening session at the Legislature and was joined by Kaukahi to render "Hawai'i Pono'i" for a true chickenskin moment. The ladies of Na Leo also were invited by Sen. Kalani English to enjoy Hawaiian kaukau afterward, but Lehua Kalima Heine declined, scooting off instead to the gym to maintain her New Year's resolution. ...

Honoluluan Richard Tillotson's play, "Inside Out," is one of nine finalists in the Christopher Brian Wolk Playwriting Award, and will be featured in a one-night reading at 7 p.m. Monday at the Abingdon Theatre in New York City. ...
