MACY'S RAISES CHARITY MONEY

In yet another nod to the generosity of Island people, Macy's Hawai'i region (which includes Guam) has swept 10 out of the top 10 places in Macy's West's Thanks for Sharing campaign.

Island Macy's stores raised more than $375,000 for local charities through Thanks for Sharing. The Ala Moana store placed first among all Macy's West stores. The campaign, which ran from Oct. 4 through Dec. 30, invited Macy's shoppers to earn 10 percent rewards on qualifying purchases made with their Macy's card after paying a $25 enrollment fee. For every $25 enrollment, Macy's donated $10 to four nonprofit charitable organizations.

The designated charities were the Boys' and Girls' Clubs, Hawai'i Foodbank, Aloha United Way and American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Campaign.

ECOSYSTEMS OPENS IN KAHALA

Retail that blends art, music and culture is a growing trend in Honolulu. The most recent addition to the mix is EcoSystems in Kahala Mall.

Locally silkscreened Tees by Barefoot (we especially liked the "Barefoot League" graphic) share shelf space with Ezekiel hoodies, shorts and dresses. Also available are hot pants by Colt and Tees by Truth and Local Celebrity (we love the '60s-era "Twiggy, Original It Girl" image).

In the mix are accessories: Freestyle and Nixon watches, sunglasses by Horen, Anarchy and Angel, and slippers from O'Neill and Coblan.
