Several athletes excel off field, too

Student-athletes from Hawai'i posted impressive academic showings in the fall semester.
Pepperdine senior libero Kekai Crabbe (Kamehameha '03 of Honolulu) was named to the West Coast Conference Fall All-Academic team. She earned a 3.23 GPA in natural science.
Santa Clara senior soccer forward Keith DeVey (St. Anthony '02) was named to the West Coast Conference Fall All-Academic team. He earned a 3.70 GPA in communications.
Colorado junior inside linebacker Jordon Dizon (Waimea '04) and sophomore inside linebacker R.J. Brown (Punahou '04 of Honolulu) were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Conference second team. Dizon earned a 3.1 GPA in economics and Brown a 3.1 GPA in broadcast journalism.
Gonzaga freshman point guard Tatri Lorenzo (Kamehameha '06) was named to the Dean's List for students earning a 3.5 to 3.69 GPA.
Montana Western senior defensive lineman Kama McKeague (Saint Louis '02 of Kapa'a) was named to the Dean's List for the fall semester. He earned a 3.91 GPA.
Gonzaga junior golfer Sarah Sheffield (Kea'au '04) was named to the Dean's List for students earning a 3.5 to 3.69 GPA.
Gonzaga junior golfer Reyn Tanaka (Mid-Pacific '04) was selected to the President's List for students earning a 3.7 to 4.0 GPA.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Houston junior forward Sunshine Misa-Uli (Farrington '04 of Honolulu) assisted on a 3-pointer with 1:15 remaining to help seal an 82-77 win over East Carolina Jan. 10. She had nine points and seven rebounds.
Saint Francis (Pa.) senior guard Christie Ayers (Pearl City '03) scored a team-high 10 points in an 80-52 loss to Mount St. Mary's (N.Y.) Saturday.
Western Washington sophomore guard India Soo (Kamehameha '04) scored 11 points in a 79-73 win over Alaska Fairbanks Thursday.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Colorado School of Mines sophomore guard Kyle Pape ('Iolani '05) scored at the buzzer to help CSM beat Adams State, 59-58, Saturday.
Pape's high-arching shot in the lane counted for two of his nine points to go with four rebounds.
FOOTBALL
Colorado freshman inside linebacker Michael Sipili (Damien '06) was named to the Sporting News Freshman All-America honorable mention team. Sipili was one of four true freshmen to play for Colorado in 2006.
Colorado junior inside linebacker Jordon Dizon (Waimea '04) was selected to the all-Big 12 team by the San Antonio Express-News and second-team all-conference by the Associated Press, Houston Chronicle and Kansas City Star.
