Kodama will join Super Bowl event

D.K. Kodama of the Sansei/d.k. Steak House/Vino/Hiroshi family of restaurants will again participate in the Super Bowl Party with a Purpose, a food-and-wine event that benefits hunger-relief organizations Feb. 3 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County (Fla.) Convention Center.
A "Taste of the NFL Restaurant Guide," with profiles of the chefs involved and their restaurant recommendations nationwide, plus information about hunger agencies, is on sale at www.tasteofthenfl.com (add /pressroom/ to that Web address and you can look up the recipes for the dishes each chef is preparing). D.K. is doing bacon-wrapped scallops.
CULINARY CLASSES
DIVERSE OFFERINGS AT KAPI'OLANI COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Kapi'olani Community College's spring culinary class series kicks off this week with chef Grant Sato's very poplar Basic Knife Skills class and dozens of others. Sato continues his Cooking Local classes with a primer on Korean barbecue as well as a class on popular Island-style soups. International cookery will include Mexican cooking with chef Adriana Torres, Chinese Home-Style Cooking with Daniel Leung and Japanese Noodles with chef Nina Jarrett. Kevin Tate is back with Southern, Cajun and Creole cuisines.
A group of courses focuses on cooking for health and wellness with instructors Alyssa Moreau and Leslie Ashburn. Chefs Abigail Langlas and Mark Silva will share baking basics in courses that range from Creampuffs 'n' Stuff to Simply Beautiful Cakes.
