The Maui Family YMCA's Mauloa Campaign to raise funds to renovate and expand its Kahului facility and increase outreach programs recently received several substantial grants totaling nearly $1.5 million.

The gifts include $500,000 from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, $225,000 from the Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation and $250,000 from Goodfellow Brothers Inc.

So far the YMCA has raised more than $2 million toward the $10 million campaign goal. Plans call for doubling the size of the 17,284-square-foot facility on Kanaloa Avenue.
