The Hawai'i State Science Olympiad will take place Saturday at Leeward Community College.

The Olympiad is a hands-on science competition in which high school students from around the state compete in events that cover various scientific disciplines, from chemistry to forensics, earth science to math.

Highlights for this year's tournament include engineering events and a forensics and five-star science pentathlon that includes a synthesis of Native Hawaiian culture into the scientific processes that students will have to preform.
