Kapalua Resort will offer local residents and Kapalua Club Resort members special reduced rates to play The Village Course one last time before it closes March 1. From Feb. 21 to 28, Hawai'i residents will be able to play for $25. Times are based on space availability.
"We are offering the special rate because we appreciate the support from our local residents over the past 27 years and we want to send out a big mahalo," said Gary Planos, senior vice president. "The Village Course closure is part of our revitalization and upgrading of Kapalua Resort. The Plantation Course and The Bay Course are unaffected, and The Golf Academy will operate all practicing and instructional programs."
To book a time, call 669-8044. Hawai'i residents must show a valid driver's license.
The Village Course closure will allow construction of The Mauka Course, a new Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole Mauka Golf Course, to begin late this year. The new private course will be located on the mauka side of the resort.
UH TO HOST BURNS EVENT NEXT WEEK
Hawai'i's Rainbow Warriors will host their annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate next Wednesday to Friday.
The 23-team tournament features six programs ranked in Golfweek's Top 30, led by No. 6 UNLV, No. 14 Brigham Young and No. 15 Texas A&M. New Mexico's Charlie Belijan is the top-ranked individual. BYU's Daniel Summerhays is 11th and UNLV's Jarred Texter 16th.
UH-Hilo is the only NCAA Division II team in the tournament.
