With one of the lowest unemployment rates nationwide adding new wrinkles to the field of human resources, the HAWAI'I SOCIETY OF CORPORATE PLANNERS has scheduled a discussion of current issues in the field Thursday in Waikiki. Speaking will be a panel of human resource experts including executive recruiter Shannon Maresca, of Maresca & Associates; corporate HR executive Karen T. Honma, director of human resources with Halekulani hotel; and employment/labor attorney Tamara Girard, who practices employment and labor law with Torkildson, Katz, Fonseca, Moore & Hetherington. Patt Steiner, an experienced business adviser and executive director of the Hawai'i Women's Business Center, will share her knowledge and experience on how to run a successful business at a series of "LET'S TALK STORY" sessions sponsored by the center. The Hawai'i Science and Technology Council has scheduled a "Report to Members/Stakeholders and Plugged-In Networking Mixer" to update members on, among other topics, legislative matters, the group's 2007 work plan and events, and membership benefits.
