Oklahoma State golfer wins UH-Hilo tourney

Oklahoma State's Jonathan Moore fired a 5-under-par 65 yesterday to win the University of Hawai'i-Hilo Intercollegiate Golf Tournament by four strokes at the Waikoloa Village Club.
Moore, a sophomore, had a 54-hole total of 15-under 195.
Georgia Tech's Roberto Castro (67) and Stanford's Rob Grube (64) shared second place at 199. First and second round leader Cameron Tringale of Georgia Tech shot 73 and finished in a five-way tie for fifth at 201.
University of Hawai'i's Pierre-Henri Soero (67) was the top local competitor, finishing tied for 18th at 205.
Johnathan Hirata (73) led Hawai'i-Hilo with a 220 and tied for 77th place.
In the team competition, Stanford beat Oklahoma in a playoff to win the 18-team tournament. Both teams were tied atop the leaderboard at 37-under 803. Hawai'i took 13th at 847, and UH-Hilo finished last at 891.

NFL'S STRAHAN HOSTS FREE NORTH SHORE CLINIC
A free junior clinic with New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and football standouts will be held today from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Turtle Bay Resort's practice field near the stables.
Check-in for ages 6-18 will start at 7:30 a.m.
Athletic attire is required, including grass field shoes. Participants must bring bottled water.
An autograph/photo session with Strahan, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and others will be held also.
The clinic — presented by North Shore Youth Athletic Foundation, Hawaii Team Sports, and Turtle Bay Resort — aims to encourage kids to participate in sports, and to teach sportsmanship, teamwork and specific football skills.

'AIEA COACH SAY TO BE HONORED AT PRO BOWL
'Aiea High School football coach Wendell Say will be honored prior to today's Pro Bowl game at Aloha Stadium.
Say is the recipient of the 2007 Pro Bowl Hawaii High School Coach of the Year.
Say, who just completed his 15th season at 'Aiea, is 81-67-1. 'Aiea has advanced to the post-season nine times, and won the 2003 Division II state championship.
Also being honored prior to the game are two player representatives each from Division I state champion Kahuku and Division II state champion King Kekaulike.
