State tourney berths on line for Punahou, Kamehameha
Advertiser Staff
Punahou (9-1-1) and Kamehameha (9-1-1) the winners of the past two boys soccer state championships, play today to determine their postseason positions.
The Interscholastic League of Honolulu is awarded one automatic berth, and the second-place team must play a Maui team for another berth.
Punahou plays 'Iolani and Kamehameha takes on Damien at Kapi'olani Park at 4:15 p.m. in the final regular season game of the season.
If both win today, they play off Thursday at Kapi'olani Park at 4 p.m.
Should one lose or tie while the other wins today, the losing/tying team would be the ILH runner-up, which heads to Maui Saturday to play Maui Interscholastic League runner-up Baldwin at 3 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.
The loser of Thursday's playoff would play Saturday's match-up with Baldwin. Kamehameha-Maui won the MIL title.
