HUNDREDS LOSE POWER IN CRASH

A one-vehicle crash yesterday morning on Farrington Highway near La'aloa Street by the Honokai Hale subdivision caused a power failure in the area. Hundreds of residents were initially affected, but power was restored to most of them within an hour, according to Hawaiian Electric Co.

A HECO spokeswoman said power was restored to the last 30 customers about 6:20 p.m.

A Chevrolet sport utility vehicle drifted off the west-bound lanes and took down a utility pole. No one was injured in the crash, which was reported about 5:10 a.m. Work crews replaced the pole.

One right westbound lane was shut down all day and into the night, which caused some slowing of traffic.
