'High School Musical' available in three local flavors

The Cheetah Girls will churn up the Blaisdell Arena this weekend, but the Disney Channel's tween appeal is reaching even further on O'ahu as three productions of "High School Musical" begin this weekend or are waiting in the wings. Details:
Premiering at 7 p.m. Friday, Ruth Ke'elikolani Auditorium, Kamehameha Schools; repeats 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, through Feb. 18. Presented by the Kapalama school's Performing Arts Department. Tickets are $5. 842-8356.

7 p.m. March 2-4 and 9-10, Nanakuli High and Intermediate School's multipurpose building. "High School Musical," the wildly popular TV movie that spawned the Billboard No. 1 soundtrack album for 2006, is about two teens whose love of singing bring them together as they audition for their high school musical.
