BRISTOL, Tenn. — 'Iolani's struggles against a murderous schedule continued yesterday with a 67-62 loss to Father Henry Carr of Toronto, Ontario, in the Arby's Classic boys basketball tournament.

The Crusaders (25-1) are the defending Toronto Catholic School champions. They feature several collegiate prospects, including 6-foot-3 senior guard Tramar Sutherland, who scored 32 points.

Pablo Warner led the Raiders with 14 points, while Berton Wong and Jarrett Arakawa added 11 and 10, respectively.

'Iolani, which had its run of five consecutive state titles ended last year, recently hosted the 'Iolani Prep Classic. The Raiders lost to perennial powers Mason County (Ky.), Mount Vernon (N.Y.) and Rice (N.Y.) in the tournament. They beat a team from China.

Sutherland has received interest from Central Connecticut State.

"They'd take their eyes off me. They'd go one way and I went another. I saw a lot of gaps," he said.

The gaps generally came against 'Iolani's zone defense, which worked well for the Raiders (4-5) early on.

Often playing with only two players taller than 6 feet, the Raiders were able to keep things fast-paced with a lot of outside shots, resulting in a 30-28 halftime lead for 'Iolani.

Sutherland scored 12 points in the third period.

"In the second half they put a lot of pressure on us and we couldn't get back. Guys were just watching the shot go up," 'Iolani coach Mark Mugiishi said.

'Iolani was within 58-55 in large part due to a balanced attack that saw six players score four or more points in the second half.

But after Father Henry Carr's Rodel Grenaway missed the front end of a one-and-one, Sutherland was there with an offensive rebound and a layup to give the Crusaders a 60-55 lead in the final two minutes.

Three turnovers on its next four possessions followed for 'Iolani, which will face local participant Sullivan East, Tenn., today at 7 a.m. Hawai'i time.

"I'm very concerned we're not winning," Mugiishi said. "At the beginning you fix the X's and O's but at the end you have to produce."
