Former Hawai'i All-State Player of the Year Kyle Pape scored a game-high 20 points to lead Colorado School of Mines to a 73-61 victory over Hawai'i Pacific in a nonconference men's basketball game last night at Blaisdell Arena.

Pape, a 2005 'Iolani School graduate from Honolulu, made 7 of 15 field-goal attempts, including 2 of 5 from 3-point range, and 4 of 5 free throws for the Orediggers (6-4). Sean Armstrong added 17 points.

Rishi Kakad led the Sea Warriors (3-5) with 19 points. Jason Curtis added 15 points and Ryan Walker 11.

In the women's matchup, Emily Dalton had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead CSM to a 69-63 victory. Peanut Eickelman added 14 points and Stevie Hagemeister 11 for the Orediggers (6-4).

Ashley Jenkins led the Sea Warriors (0-8) with 23 points. Jocelyn Norris added 13 points and Karas Blate 10.

BYUH FALLS, 75-73

Chris Banchero hit a jumper just inside the 3-point line as time expired, lifting Seattle Pacific to a 75-73 victory over host Brigham Young-Hawai'i in a nonconference men's basketball game at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

Marques Echols hit six 3-pointers and finished with 33 points for the Falcons (6-1), who overcame an 11-point deficit with 8 1/2 minutes remaining. Casey Reed added 11 points.

Lucas Alves led the Seasiders (5-2) with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Corey Nielson and Nathan Sims each added 11 points, and Trenson Akana, Paul Peterson and Jermaine Odjegba contributed 10 points apiece.

Akana's 3-pointer put BYUH ahead 65-54 with 8:36 left.

But Echols scored 10 points in a 12-2 run to get Seattle Pacific back in the game. Banchero's layup gave Seattle Pacific a 73-69 lead with 2:16 left, but Akana sank two free throws and Nielson added a layup to tie the score at 73 with 1:50 left.

Both teams missed scoring opportunities before Banchero hit his game-winner.
