Chaminade bounced at home, 82-60

Sheena Brown scored 19 points to lead four other starters in double figures as Alaska Fairbanks routed host Chaminade, 82-60, in non-conference women's basketball yesterday at McCabe gym.
Marian Murphy scored a game-high 20 points for Chaminade (0-4). Simrin Cummins added 12 points for the Silverswords, who were outrebounded 53-24, including 28-6 on the offensive glass.
Joscelyn Shumate scored 15 points, and Kari Reabold and Cristina Bruketta had 12 each for the Nanooks (5-1). Sarah Herrin added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Alaska, which led 50-36 at the break.

Kia Vaughn was so sick, she had to take intravenous fluids before Rutgers took the floor.
The way she played last night against No. 11 California, it was hard to tell she wasn't feeling well.
Vaughn had 13 points and 15 rebounds to help sixth-ranked Rutgers beat Cal, 56-51, at Piscataway, N.J.
"She was a difference maker," Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer said. "She chose to make a difference in the second half and during that run."
Matee Ajavon scored 15 points to lead Rutgers (7-2). Brittany Ray added 11 for the Scarlet Knights, who ended Cal's four-game winning streak.
Ashley Walker had 14 points to top the Golden Bears (8-2).
With Rutgers trailing 38-37 in the second half, Vaughn scored six of her team's next eight points as the Scarlet Knights built a 45-40 advantage. Cal used a 5-2 spurt, capped by Alexis Gray-Lawson's 3-pointer, to close within 47-45 with 6:35 left.
"I blame myself for not calling plays," Cal coach Joanne Boyle said. "I knew it was going to be a game of possessions."
But the Golden Bears couldn't regain the lead.
