Pneumatic roller victim identified

A 51-year-old Hilo man who was run over by a pneumatic roller while working on a taxiway repaving job at the general aviation area of Honolulu Airport has been identified by the medical examiner's office as Harvey Kojiro.

An autopsy determined Kojiro, an employee of Jas. W. Glover Ltd., died of multiple internal injuries in an industrial accident.


DROWNING VICTIM WAS LOCAL RESIDENT

The Honolulu medical examiner's office has identified a man who died Saturday at a hospital after being pulled from the water at Waikiki Beach Thursday as Hisao Naiki, 84, a local resident.

According to police, Naiki was snorkeling with his son about 10 feet from shore in knee-deep water when he was struck by a small wave and lost consciousness.


2 MEN SEVERELY BEATEN IN KALIHI

Honolulu police are investigating a beating early Saturday morning in Kalihi as an attempted murder.

A man, 46, flagged down a patrol officer at 3:05 a.m. and was later taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with multiple facial fractures, police said.

A second man, 41, also was taken to Queen's. His condition is unknown, police said.

The victim who stopped the officer said the two men were beaten by seven to nine men.

Police today would not release information on where the beating took place and had made no arrests.
