TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"So You Think You Can Dance," 7 p.m., Fox. Wrapping up a terrific season, this show has one final, packed week. Tonight is the results show, delayed from last week because of football. It trims from six dancers to the final four; they'll compete Wednesday, with the winner named Thursday. Danny Tidwell — a former ballet star who can soar in any style — is a half-step ahead of two other talented guys, Neil Haskell and Pasha Kovalev. There are two good women — Lacey Schwimmer (the sister of last year's champion) and Lauren Gottlieb — and a great one. Sabra Johnson packs immense talent into a tiny frame.
"Heartland" season finale, 5 p.m., TNT. Dr. Grant (Treat Williams) is staggering from the death of his mentor (Dabney Coleman). Now comes a fresh crisis. This is a powerful episode, with great work from Kari Matchett, Rockmond Dunbar, Williams and (Grant often talks to the dead) Coleman.
OF NOTE
"Sesame Street" season-opener, 11:30 a.m., PBS. There's an emphasis on reading this year, so Tina Fey shows up in pirate suit as a "bookaneer." It's a bright, fun episode for kids or grown-ups.
"The Closer," 6 p.m., TNT. It's family time for Kyra Sedgwick, the series star. Barry Corbin and Frances Sternhagen play her visiting parents; Kevin Bacon, her real-life husband, directed the episode.
"Saving Grace," 7 p.m., TNT. Grace has a visiting relative, too. She's an aunt, played by Frances Fisher.
"Thank God You're Here," 7 p.m., NBC. This kinda-fun improv show returns in reruns. Tentatively scheduled is the hour with Angela Kinsey, Fran Drescher, Tom Arnold and Fred Willard.
"My Boys," 7 p.m., TBS. Here's an above-average episode centering on money. Stephanie is deep in debt, requiring a drastic change in lifestyle. Bobby's situation is different, leading to fun moments.
"Weeds" season-opener, 7 p.m., Showtime. Maybe being a suburban pot-dealer isn't so easy, after all. Nancy (the wonderful Mary-Louise Parker) is held at gunpoint.
"Californication" debut, 7:30 p.m., Showtime. This comedy has lots of sex and attractive people. At the core, however, is a weary and uninteresting writer (David Duchovny).
"Hell's Kitchen," 8 p.m., Fox. The season finale has two people. Rock, 30, is an executive chef from Spotsylvania, Va.; Bonnie, 26, is a nanny and personal chef from Los Angeles. The winner will be in charge of a Las Vegas restaurant.
"Heroes," 8 p.m., NBC. The show plans to rerun some of its better episodes before the second season starts. Tonight, Hiro tries to take advantage of his time-shifting in Las Vegas.
