TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"School of Rock" (2003), 7 p.m., Fox. Mike White and Jack Black seem to blend perfectly. White writes clever, restrained scripts; Black gives broad, funny performances. This story involves a slacker musician (Black) whose friend (White) is a substitute teacher. Borrowing the friend's identity, he teaches at a private school. Richard Linklater directed skillfully. "School of Rock" brings a buoyant sense of music and fun.

The "Flash" story has been told often, usually quite badly. This bland version is so-so, at best, with Eric Johnson as an un-flashy Flash.
