The Outdoor Circle's Wai'alae-Kahala branch planted a shower tree at Hunakai Park yesterday to honor the organization's chief executive officer, Mary Steiner, for 15 years of service.

It was also Steiner's birthday.

"It's really been under her guidance that The Outdoor Circle has blossomed back to the statewide power organization it had been for nearly a century," said Bob Loy, director of environmental programs. "She's breathed new life into the organization 15 years ago, and it really has made a big difference."

The tree is at the intersection of Hunakai and 'Ulumaika streets.
