Hawai'i-Hilo softball sweeps Chaminade

The 12th-ranked Hawai'i-Hilo women's softball team allowed just three hits in sweeping Chaminade, 11-1 and 8-0, in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader yesterday at Carvalho Park in Hilo.
In the first game, Tracy Ryan (12-5) allowed one run over five innings, while Charity Senas, Dana Lee and Zoie Sevilla had two hits apiece in the 14-hit game for the Vulcans (37-10 overall, 15-3 PacWest). Kanani Numata added three RBIs.
In the second game, Leo Sing Chow (9-1) and Sarah Weisskopf combined on a five-inning one-hitter, while Vanessa Badosa, Senas and Haunani Haasenritter each had two RBIs for the Vulcans. Chaminade fell to 7-38, 3-18.
TENNIS
UH WOMEN TOP HPU
University of Hawai'i seniors Kana Aikawa, Florence Wasko, and Samanta Cappella led Hawai'i past Hawai'i Pacific, 6-1, yesterday in women's tennis at the UH Tennis Complex.
The match was the regular season finale for UH (6-16).
Aikawa and freshman Julia Hodes both notched singles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Sophie Kobuch, Wasako and Cappella followed with singles wins at the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
Tinka Mihova recorded HPU's lone win in No. 4 singles.
Hawai'i swept the three doubles matches.

KUMU ADDS TO LINEUP
Television sportscasters Jai Cunningham and Bob Hogue will join KUMU's growing morning radio sports call-in show lineup, the station announced.
Cunningham, of KHON (Channel 2) and Hogue, of Oceanic Cable, will do the Thursday 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. slot, general manager John Aeto said.
They will join a lineup that includes Jim and Kanoa Leahey (Monday and Friday) and Jeff Portnoy (Wednesdays).
Cunningham and Hogue will debut Thursday. Portnoy is scheduled to begin May 9. Leahey & Leahey debuted last week.
"We're assembling an all-star lineup of people who are well know in the sports community," Aeto said.
HONOLULU MARATHON
REGISTER ONLINE OK
Online registration for this year's Honolulu Marathon is now available via the Honolulu Marathon Web site (www.honolulumarathon.org).
Fees for the race, scheduled for Dec. 9, have increased significantly.
The entry fee for local runners is $80, up from $60 last year, through October 26. Cost for nonresidents has increased from $95 to $125 for the same period.
During the first late registration period, Oct. 27 to Nov. 9, the local entry fee increases to $95 ($10 less than last year) for residents and $140 for nonresidents ($105 last year). Fees increase to $175 for both groups, up from $125 last year, from Nov. 10 to Dec. 8.
