TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"American Masters: Andy Warhol — A Documentary Film," 9 p.m., PBS; concludes tomorrow. Andrew Warhola grew up poor in Pittsburgh, the son of Slovak-speaking immigrants. The family had two rooms, no running water, no indoor toilet. Frail and sickly, he obsessed over movie magazines. Then he turned himself into a celebrity. Fresh from Carnegie Tech he became one of New York's top illustrators. He shortened his name, adopted blond and silver wigs and kept changing his persona. From portraits of Marilyn Monroe and soup cans to independent movies, Warhol helped define a changing pop world. Filled with fresh interviews from people who were there, this is a rich portrait of a fascinating life.

OF NOTE

"Jericho" debut, 7 p.m., CBS. A young man (Skeet Ulrich) returns to his Kansas home with varying stories of where he's been. Then a distant nuclear cloud changes everything.

"The Biggest Loser" season opener, 7 p.m., NBC. Fifty contestants — one from each state — arrive but only 14 will stay at the ranch. Others must keep up weight-loss at home.

"Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures — America's Under-water Treasures," 8 p.m., PBS; concludes Sept. 27. Joined by his son and daughter, Cousteau visits 13 sanctuaries in the U.S. They eye Georgia sea turtles, giant kelp forests and the wreck of the Civil War ship USS Monitor.

"Kidnapped," 9:01 p.m., NBC. A boy, 15 and wealthy, is kidnapped. His parents (Dana Delany and Timothy Hutton) are soon working with FBI agents (led by Delroy Lindo) and a tough private expert (Jeremy Sisto). It's a strong start, but the case will be stretched over the season.
