The San Diego ska-punk rock band Buck O Nine, left (remember the hit single "My Town"?), is back after a five-year hiatus, throwing down a two-show tour in Honolulu. The band's last Isle appearance was back in 1997, when it rocked out at — gulp! — Poifest. The show also includes Black Square, Pimpbot, Upstanding Youth, Golfcart Rebellion and Ex-Superheroes.

Based on the popular Julie Andrews movie, the stage version of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" was 2002's most awarded new show on Broadway. Set in New York City in 1922, the musical tells the story of Millie Dillmount (Shawna Masuda, right), who is in search of a new life. She wants to marry a rich fella but falls in love with penniless Jimmy (Pedro Haro, left). Director/choreographer Darren Lee teams with musical director Emmett Yoshioka in this community-theater premiere.

What do you get when you pair a Jamaican roots rock reggae veteran and a DJ master from San Diego? A night of slammin' grooves, as Edi Fitzroy, right, and DJ JFX spice up Indigo with tunes such as "Bad Boy," "Penatentary" and "Check for You Once." In 1995 JFX released his first critically acclaimed mixtape "Phatt Blendz & Freestyles" and followed up with "Phatt Blendz & Freestyles — Volume II," which was listed in the Top 10 Mixtapes by UnderGround Sounds Magazine. The pair will blend hip-hop, dance hall, house and reggae. For 21 and older.

The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage presents Festa, a celebration of all that's Portuguese in Hawai'i. Tau Dance Theatre developed "Naupaka: A Hawaiian Love Story," a contemporary opera, based on the classic story of forbidden love between an ali'i (noble class) and a low-born. The performance includes chant, falsetto, orchestral and choral compositions tied in with modern dance. It will be rendered almost entirely in Hawaiian, with English subtitles. Peter Rockford Espiritu of Tau Dance Theatre directs.

Cesar Millan, star of the National Geographic Channel's "The Dog Whisperer" TV series, is returning for another seminar on training ... humans! His first appearance in Honolulu was in fall 2005. Scheduled topics include how to recognize the animal behavior in dogs, different levels of energy and how they influence a dog's personality, as well as Millan's leash techniques. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Hawaiian Humane Society. Remember: No pets allowed.
