  • TERI ORTON has been named general manager of The Ilikai, overseeing all aspects of the hotel's operation, from housekeeping to sales and marketing. Orton was most recently general manager of the W Honolulu — Diamond Head hotel, where she had also served as director of revenue management and director of rooms. Orton has also been revenue manager for the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. She serves on the board of directors for The Ilikai's Association of Apartment Owners.

  • KEN KESSLER, acting general manager of Atlantis Adventures' Navatek Cruises has been named permanently to the job. Before joining the nightly dinner and seasonal whale watch provider as cruise manager in Nov. 2003, Kessler was general manager for 11 years of a Manhattan restaurant.

  • Retired U.S. Navy Capt. BRUCE SMITH has been named vice president for marine operations for HSI Electric. Smith will oversee the company's nationwide commercial and military-related field operations, including Guam, and be responsible for developing new lines of business for submarine and aircraft carrier maintenance.

  • Castle Resorts & Hotels have announced several new appointments and promotions of general managers for properties in Hawai'i and Guam:

    RANDY AHLO has been promoted from general manager of Castle's Island Colony to general manager of the Waikiki Shore beachfront condominium project. The over 35-year industry veteran has worked at other properties, including Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki and Ilikai hotels. Ahlo is a well-known name as one of Honolulu's local musicians and entertainers.

    LARRY MAYO has been named general manager of Castle's newest hotel, Imperial Suites Hotel on Guam. In Hawai'i, the almost 30-year veteran held a variety of management positions with Royal Kahana Resort, Hotel Hana-Maui, Aston Mahana Resort and Aston Waikiki Surfside.

    TERRY KAUMUALII YASUHARA has returned to Castle's management team as newly appointed general manager of the Island Colony. For five years, she has been the general manager of Shores of Waikoloa. The over 20-year management veteran is a former manager for Castle's Kona Reef and Inn on the Park.

    NORMAN HIGASHI was named general manager for the Big Island oceanfront condominium resort, Kona Bali. The over 26-year management veteran's past senior level operations experience has included director of catering, resort manager and general manager. Most recently he was resort manager at the Makaha Resort & Golf Club.

    KENNY CHING, most recently regional director of culinary services for Hawaiian Hotels and Resorts, has joined Castle as general manager for Kamaole Sands Maui condominium resort. His over 20 years in travel industry management has included experience on five different Hawaiian Islands.

    CHARMAINE AUGUSTIRO, a veteran of 30 years of management experience on Moloka'i, has been named general manager of Kaluakoi Villas on the Friendly Isle. Among her past properties were Marc Molokai Shores, Ke Nani Kai Resort, Moloka'i Ranch and Colony Hotels & Resorts.

  • First Hawaiian Bank has announced the management promotions of:

    Douglas Sakamoto to vice president and automated clearing house manager, Transaction Management - Electronic Funds Transfer Department.

    Charles K. Erskine to assistant vice president and area manager, Kamuela Branch, overseeing Honoka'a, Waikoloa and Kamuela branches.

    Debbie Funai to assistant vice president, Branch Residential Loan Department. She is currently responsible for originating mortgage loans with the Windward, Liliha and Kalihi Branches.

    Annette Y. Higa to security officer, Security Department. Since joining First Hawaiian Bank in 1974, she has served in several positions including clerk teller, teller trainer, head teller, customer service representative, service supervisor and service manager.

  • DEBRA HENTON — who began her career as a clerk with The Gas Co.'s former parent corporation, Pacific Resources Inc. in 1987 — has been named vice president of customer affairs. She will oversee meter reading, billing, call center activities, cash remittance, customer service and credit collections. She has also served as office supervisor of the company's Kaua'i branch, and then manager of customer relations and director of customer affairs for the O'ahu branch. She is also on the board of directors for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs' Native Hawaiian Revolving Loan Fund advisory board. The Gas Co. provides gas energy and related services to 67,000 commercial and residential customers on O'ahu, the Big Island, Maui, Kaua'i, Moloka'i and Lana'i.
