Banton has recorded and toured with Sting, Peter Gabriel, UB40, Steel Pulse and others. He will be backed by California's Mystic Roots Band in these Hawai'i concerts.

SUNSET JAZZ AT LA PIETRA

Jazz favorites Jimmy Borges and Shari Lynn team up once again to lead the annual Sunset Jazz Etc. event — 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10 — on the Great Lawn of La Pietra school, 2933 Poni Moi Road. The concert begins at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $30 general ($240 for tables of eight), which includes wine, coffee and dessert. There's valet parking and a free shuttle from and to Kapi'olani Community College. 924-7515.
