Martin lifts HPU past Chaminade

Barbara Martin had 19 kills, nine digs and nine blocks to lift Hawai'i Pacific to a 34-32, 30-27, 30-27 victory over Chaminade in a Pacific West Conference women's volleyball match last night at McCabe Gym.
HPU is 7-15 overall and 4-9 in the PacWest. Chaminade is 17-5 and 11-3.
Trina Kauliakamoa led the Silverswords with 13 kills and nine digs.
UH-HILO LOSES ON ROAD
Marissa Miller had 18 kills and Notre Dame de Namur had 14 aces en route to an 18-30, 30-23, 30-26, 30-19 victory over Hawai'i-Hilo in a PacWest women's volleyball match at Belmont, Calif.
Notre Dame de Namur is 13-21 overall and 2-12 in the PacWest. UH-Hilo is 5-17 and 3-10.
Taina Savage led UH-Hilo with 26 kills.

BYUH WOMEN LOSE, 1-0
Hope Siffert scored at 48 minutes in the second half to lift Notre Dame de Namur to a 1-0 victory over Brigham Young-Hawai'i in a Pacific West Conference women's soccer match yesterday at La'ie.
BYUH finished the regular season 12-4 overall and 8-2 in the PacWest. Notre Dame de Namur, the conference champion, is 12-6-2 and 9-0-1.
In a PacWest men's match, Anthony Putrus scored two goals to help Notre Dame de Namur defeat BYUH, 3-1, in the regular season finale at La'ie. The Argos are 13-5-2 and 9-1-0. BYUH finished 7-6-1 and 5-4-1.

UH EIGHTH IN WAC
Chantelle Laan of the University of Hawai'i finished 13th and the Rainbow Wahine were eighth in the nine-team Western Athletic Conference women's cross country championships yesterday at Fresno, Calif.
Laan, UH's top finisher, completed the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 19.6 seconds. Rhea Richter of Idaho won the race in 17:33.2.
Utah State won the team title with 63 points, followed by Nevada with 70. UH scored 192.
SWIMMING
RAINBOW WAHINE WIN
The University of Hawai'i women won the 200-yard freestyle relay — the final event of the day — to defeat UC Santa Barbara, 148-143, yesterday at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
