Y'S DOWNTOWN DECADENCE IS BACK

This YWCA fundraiser focuses on pampering, socializing and doing the girlie thing in an atmosphere of fun and frivolity. Members of Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre and Honolulu Opera Theatre will entertain, Café Laniakea will serve decadent pupu and The Wine Stop will provide beverages. Stylists and salons will be there for mini-makeovers, manicures, massage and consultations. A silent auction will feature jewelry, clothing and vintage treasures.

Downtown Decadence takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Café Laniakea at the YWCA on Richards Street. The $60 ticket entitles you to three-drinks scrip, pupu and live music.

'MODELING POLICE' COMING TO TOWN

William Squire and Laura Boulay, dubbed "The Modeling Police" by Los Angeles media, know the modeling and entertainment industries inside and out, with all their glamour and dirty laundry. That's why they wrote "The Model's Workbook," an interactive guide for those who want to break into the industry.

Their mission is to make the industry safer for teens by sharing knowledge and exposing Internet scams.

Squire and Boulay will be in Honolulu Wednesday through Oct. 31 on a book and lecture tour, visiting book stores and high schools. The focus of the tour is "How to get discovered in the entertainment industry and how to stay safe while doing it." It's especially recommended for teens and their parents.

See them at Barnes & Noble, Kahala Mall, at 2 p.m., Oct. 28.
