Hawai'i has 10 in World titles hunt

Hawai'i competitors David Hubbard, Travis Smith, Shane Valiere and Sebastian Zietz won repechage heats yesterday to remain in contention in the ISA World Surfing Games.
The fourth day of the eight-day contest was completed in 1- to 3-foot waves at Huntington Beach, Calif.
Hubbard and Smith both advanced through two repechage heats in the men's bodyboarding division; Valiere and Zietz advanced through one repechage heat each in the open men's surfing division.
Hubbard was one of the standouts of the day, receiving a two-wave score of 17.14 (out of 20) in one of his repechage victories.
The contest follows a double-elimination format, so surfers in the repechage heats can still win the division.
All 10 competitors on the Hawai'i roster are still in contention. Undefeated surfers in the winner's bracket received byes yesterday.
Undefeated competitors for Hawai'i so far are Gavin Gillette (open men's surfing), Bethany Hamilton and Lani Hunter (open women's surfing), Chasity Baltazar (women's bodyboarding) and Bonga Perkins (longboard surfing).
