Stanford's Chun wins first tourney

Stanford sophomore Mari Chun won her first collegiate tournament yesterday, capturing the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.
Chun, a 2005 Kamehameha Schools graduate, took a six-shot lead into the final round and closed with a 75 to win by two shots over New Mexico's Jodi Ewart.
Chun opened the tournament Monday with a career-best 4-under 68 and completed the wire-to-wire victory with a 54-hole total of 1-under 215. Ewart shot 71—217.
Waiakea's Amanda Wilson, a sophomore at Arizona, shot 78—232 to drop into a share of 25th.
The Cardinal won the team title, shooting a final-round 296 for an 896 total — six better than New Mexico.
Chun was 27th in the NCAA Golf Championship as a freshman, when she had two top-10 finishes. She has won all three of the Hawai'i women's majors.

HAWAI'I PACIFIC EVENT AT CENTRAL O'AHU PARK
The second rounds of the Hawai'i Pacific Wheelchair Championships begins at 12:30 p.m. today at the Central O'ahu Regional Park Tennis Complex. Men's and women's quarterfinals are scheduled.The tournament is an International Tennis Federation event and part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
Anthony Lara, from Chino, Calif., is the men's top seed. Kaitlyn Verfuerth, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., is the women's top seed.
Tomorrow's play begins at 2:30 p.m., with semifinals scheduled. Finals start Saturday at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
ARNOULT-RITTHALER LOSES IN SECOND ROUND
Maui's Beth Arnoult-Ritthaler lost to second-seeded Florence Gravellier in the second round of the 27th U.S. Open USTA National Wheelchair Championships last week in San Diego.
Arnoult won her opening round match, beating Naomi Ishimoto, 6-1, 6-2. She lost to Gravellier, 6-2, 6-1. Arnoult lost in the first round of doubles at the George E. Barnes Center.
