TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Grey's Anatomy," 8 p.m., ABC. The season's first three episodes have been terrific. They've also managed to leave virtually every character in limbo. Izzie spent most of last week's episode standing outside the hospital. She was afraid to talk to Chief Webber — who didn't want to talk to her anyway. Meanwhile, Cristina couldn't get Burke to break out of his funk and exercise. And Callie quit living with George. And Addison found Mark Sloan to be a relentless suitor. For a moment there, Meredith actually seemed happy while dating two hunks. Then they got so competitive that no one had fun. Tonight brings more complications, including a possible pregnancy and Izzie's meeting with the late Denny's dad.

OF NOTE

"Deliverance" (1972, AMC), "A Few Good Men" (1992, Bravo) and "Runaway Jury" (2003, Court TV); all 5 p.m. This is a great night for movie drama. "Deliverance" is a stark survival tale; the other two are involving (if exaggerated) courtroom tales.

"Ugly Betty," 7 p.m., ABC. Betty tries a makeover.

"My Name is Earl," 7 p.m., NBC. Amy Sidaris is a terrific comedy actress and a darkly clever writer. Tonight, she plays a cat owner who attracts Earl's brother.

"The Office," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Ryan has the misfortune of Dwight supervising his first sales call.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. There have been several fierce beatings, one of them fatal, in a tough part of town.

"Six Degrees," 9:01 p.m., ABC. Whitney is ready for her wedding. That upsets her new friend Laura — who has seen firsthand that the groom is a cheat. Steven is on the shaky road to recovery: Last week he reluctantly romanced a young photographer who shows all the talent and passion he once had.
