TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"30 Rock" debut, 7 p.m., NBC. In New York City, this series says, NBC has a live comedy show. It's a fictional twist on "Saturday Night Live" — not to be confused with the fictional twist featured in "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) has been running the show, with Jenna DeCarlo (Jane Krakowski) as star. Now a network suit (Alec Baldwin) insists that Lemon hire an eccentric film star (Tracy Morgan). What emerges is a show with quick spurts of sharp humor. That's common for filmed comedies that don't have a studio audience. They tend to be inconsistent, with stop-and-start humor; at times, however, they click. Some of the scenes, especially with Baldwin and Morgan, are hilarious. Others are OK. Fey — the former "SNL" head writer — is producer, writer and star. She includes enough clever moments to keep us watching.

"Ghost Hunters" season-opener, 6 p.m., Sci Fi Channel. This reality show returns in time for Halloween. It follows Jason Hawes, 34, and Grant Wilson, 32. Plumbers by trade, they spend their spare time probing reports of hauntings.

"Jericho," 7 p.m., CBS. A truck filled with food has been found near town. Meanwhile, people are starting to wonder about Hawkins (Lennie James), the newcomer who seemed to be so prepared for the nuclear disaster.

"Sci Fi Investigates" debut, 7 p.m., Sci Fi Channel. This show sends a team to probe reports on anything from voodoo to Bigfoot. It has an archaeologist and a paranormal researcher, plus Rob Mariano (the former "Survivor" competitor) and Deborah Dobrydney (a forensics investigator).

"I Pity the Fool" debut, 7 p.m., TV Land. Mr. T (the old "A-Team" star) gets his own reality show in which he nudges the undermotivated. He'll stir things at a car dealership, a dance school and more.

"Hair Trauma" debut, 7 p.m., WE. Yes, three reality shows debut simultaneously, in some time zones. This one visits LaVar Hair Designs, in New York City. Ellin LaVar has reportedly done the hair of Oprah Winfrey, Iman, Donnatella Versace and more.

"Twenty Good Years" debut, 7:30 p.m., NBC. Forced into retirement, a surgeon (John Lithgow) has big ideas. He and a quiet judge (Jeffrey Tambor) should plunge into the world. There's potential here, but it's overdone in the opener, with only sparse laughs.

"Lost," 8 p.m., ABC. Two of the captives (Sawyer and Kate) work under harsh conditions, while the third (Jack) gets a tempting offer. Meanwhile, Sayid's scheme to locate Jack may endanger the lives of Sun and Jin.

"Moyers on America: Is God Green?" 9 p.m., PBS. Bill Moyers views the growing link between evangelical Christians and environmentalism.

"The Nine," 9 p.m., ABC. After being hostages of bank robbers for 52 hours, the nine survivors face sharply different lives. At one extreme is Nick (Tim Daly), a cop whose bosses continue to investigate him; at the other is Egan (John Billingsley), basking in his celebrity status.
