TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Christmas at Rockefeller Center," 7 p.m., NBC. This annual event started as a tree-lighting ceremony and grew into a major concert special.

This year, it includes two of the people — Christina Aguilera and John Legend — who were in the superb Tony Bennett special just nine days ago. It also has Martina McBride, Sarah McLachlan, Enya, Sting, Lionel Richie, Bette Midler and Taylor Hicks.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE II

"Jericho," 7 p.m., CBS. Some of TV's most interesting shows are resting now. "Lost" and "Prison Break" have started their mid-season vacations. After tonight, "Jericho" joins them. It is scheduled to recap the first 11 episodes Feb. 14 then start new ones Feb. 21.

In the aftermath of a nuclear explosion, this town teeters toward vigilante action. Gracie, the store owner, is dead; Jonah (James Remar) has been called the killer.

Gray Anderson leads a lynch party. But Johnston (Gerald McRaney) — who is mayor and Gray's opponent — has doubts.

OF NOTE

"Bones," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. First is a new episode in which a modern investigation is entangled in the story of a long-ago, decapitated ghost. Then is a rerun involving two bodies in the morgue. It fills the spot left vacant when Fox came to its senses and dropped O.J. Simpson's "If I Did It."

"Secrets of the Dead: Bridge on the River Kwai," 8 p.m., PBS. A 250-mile railway in Thailand was a symbol of engineering brilliance and human wretchedness. The Japanese army created this supply route in 14 months by driving prisoners-of-war and slaves fiercely. More than 100,000 died, this vivid documentary says, building a railway that U.S. bombers promptly destroyed.

"Mr. St. Nick" (2002), 8-10 p.m., ABC Family; and "Santa Jr." (2002), 7-9 p.m., Hallmark. It must be terribly difficult to be Santa's son; in both of these TV movies, he gets into trouble. He's played by Kelsey Grammer in the first movie and Nick Stabile in the second.

"Criminal Minds," 8 p.m., CBS. While in Washington, D.C., a serial killer is targeting prostitutes.

"Great Performances: A Tribute to James Taylor," 9 p.m., PBS. James Taylor steps on stage to sing "Fire and Rain" and to join Carole King for "You've Got a Friend." Also doing his songs: Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss, the Dixie Chicks, Taj Mahal and more.

"CSI: NY," 9 p.m., CBS. Dr. Hawkes (Hill Harper) matches the description of a murder suspect. Mac's team is pulled off the case, but Mac continues to investigate.

"Medium," 9:01 p.m., NBC. Allison's visions are again haunted by long-ago Charles Walker. Now she feels he's inhabiting a young man.
