This year marks the 25th anniversary of the World Art Bazaar at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Academy shop manager Kathee Hoover promises the most exciting collection ever of indigenous treasures from around the world.

Among this year's items are masks from Nepal, lacquer ware from Myanmar (Burma), vintage wedding sari and Japanese haori (jackets), old African beads and antique Chinese baskets.

The bazaar, in The Art Center at Linekona, will be free and open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, today through Dec. 10. Validated parking is available for $3 in the lot just diamondhead of the art center.

PETER THOMSON HOLIDAY

Peter Thomson, a former Honoluluan who now lives and designs in Chiang Mai, Thailand, will bring his holiday collection for a special trunk show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Dec. 2. It's at a new location, Buddhawelt, at 500 Alakawa St., across from the Iwilei Costco and Home Depot.

Thomson will be showing textiles from Southeast Asia, his private label bags that blew out at his last showing, and jewelry.

In addition, Buddhawelt will showcase antique furniture and home accessories from China and Silkwinds will feature one-of-a-kind gifts and jewelry with unique character and charm.

JADE TRUNK SHOW

Jade is among the Islands' most prized gems and no one knows more about jade than David Lin of T. S. Lin. His family-owned business provides jade from Asia's most exotic locales to Neiman Marcus as well as other jewelers throughout Hawai'i.

Lin will present a trunk show of special jade pieces today in the precious jewels salon at Neiman Marcus Ala Moana.

PRECIOUS OFFERS BAGS

Precious, a boutique specializing in gifts, jewelry and apparel, has just added the handbags of North Shore artist Mark Swanson to its merchandise mix.

The Aloha Tower Marketplace boutique is the first Honolulu venue to offer the bags, which feature the whimsical art of Swanson on a collection of kitschy, retro totes, bags and cosmetic pouches.

NEW CINNAMON GIRL

The popular locally owned and designed line of cute clothes for women of all ages, Cinnamon Girl, has just opened in Windward Mall. Just in time for the holidays, the shop offers pretty party dresses for mothers and daughters, as well as jewelry, hair clips, embellished slippers, home and bath products and Cinnamon Girl logo items.

The shop is on the lower level, Macy's wing, next to Local Motion.
