Sacred Hearts Academy class of 2009, the school's 100th graduating class, will hold a Christmas tree and wreath sale 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 2 at the school as a fundraiser for Project Graduation. The school is located at 3253 Wai'alae Ave. The entrance is off Sixth Avenue.

Project Graduation is an all-night alcohol- and drug-free celebration for graduating classes that offers a safe alternative to party-hopping and its inherent dangers.

BOE TO HOLD LEEWARD FORUM

The state Board of Education will hold a community meeting for the Leeward District on Dec. 6 to discuss issues affecting public education and the public libraries.

The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Waiau Elementary School cafeteria, 98-450 Ho'okanike St., Pearl City.

HPU SCHEDULES HOLIDAY BAZAAR

Hawai'i Pacific University will celebrate its second International Holiday Bazaar from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 on Fort Street Mall.

The event, which is free and open to the public, spotlights HPU students' diversity by transforming Upper Fort Street Mall into a marketplace of booths exhibiting cultural and ethnic holiday traditions from around the world.

Elsewhere, HPU's International Chorale and International Vocal Ensemble will perform the winter concert "A Star of Joy" at 7 p.m. at Central Union Church, located at Beretania and Punahou streets. HPU's Chamber Orchestra will make its debut performance at the concert.

ANOTHER $1 MILLION FOR INSTITUTE AT UH

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa has received a second $1 million endowment from The Bernard Osher Foundation of San Francisco.

The UH-Manoa program is one of only five university-based lifelong learning programs in the nation to receive unsolicited second endowments from the foundation, UH said in a press release.

The OLLI program at Manoa is in its 10th year. The program is for people 50 and over who want to learn for the joy of it, connect with peers, enhance health and well-being and give back to the community.

The program provides an array of courses, life-review workshops, creative writing and poetry workshops, film series, performing arts events, service projects and more.

ONE-STOP CENTER FOR KAUA'I CC

Kaua'i Community College broke ground this week for its new One-Stop Center.

When completed, the building will bring together in one place a range of student services that are currently scattered throughout the campus.
