Write a holiday fiction story, win $200

Two well-written pieces of short fiction will win a pair of writers $200 each in The Advertiser's annual Holiday Fiction Contest. Entries are being accepted in two divisions: a story for adults and one for children.

CONTEST RULES

Word-count limit: 1,500.

Stories — fictional or fact-based — must be the author's own work. Winners will be required to sign a fee-for-service contract attesting to that and granting The Honolulu Advertiser the right to publish the story and place it online.

Entries in verse are acceptable. Illustrations won't be considered.

Manuscripts or e-mails must include name, address, daytime telephone and e-mail address, labeled "adult" or "children's."

Deadline: Postmarked or e-mailed on or before Nov. 30.
