FREE HOLIDAY CONCERTS

Hear some of Hawai'i's top entertainers — for free — at Kahala Mall. The annual concert series, called Shine! is sponsored by Barnes & Noble and takes place at the foot of the poinsettia tree in the mall. The lineup:

  • Nov. 25: Aaron J. Sala, 2 p.m.; Matt Catingub, 4 p.m.

  • Nov. 26: The Brothers Cazimero, 2 p.m.

  • Dec. 2: Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, 2 p.m.

  • Dec. 9: Holunape, 2 p.m.

  • Dec. 16: John Cruz, 2 p.m.

  • Dec. 23: Maunalua, 2 p.m.

    GINGERBREAD DEADLINE NOV. 20

    The Gingerbread Festival, an aromatic holiday tradition for seven years, takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

    For $39 ($20 tax deductible), your party gets everything it needs for an 8-by-9-by-9-inch gingerbread house; two hours for the construction work; and a photo with Santa. Chef Alan Wong and his crew will be available to help. Participants must register by Nov. 20; forms are available at www.eastersealshawaii.org.

    The corporate competition begins at 4 p.m., with teams of 10 giving their all in Island Style, Traditional and Corporate categories. Call 536-1015 to register.

    The event is a fundraiser for Easter Seals Hawai'i.
