Sunset on Beach has '07 sponsor

The popular Sunset on the Beach program of events has a sponsor for 2007, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann said at a Waikiki Improvement Association luncheon yesterday. Hannemann did not disclose the name of the sponsor, which is expected to be announced within the next week.
Hawaiian Telcom has sponsored the Sunset on the Beach events — once paid for entirely by city taxpayers — over the past year.
DFS HAWAII REVERSES CUTS
DFS Hawaii has restored store hours at the DFS Waikiki Galleria as well as employee work hours, said Sharon Weiner, vice president of business development for DFS U.S. Group.
Hurt by declining Japanese visitor arrivals, DFS in June announced it would temporarily reduce work hours for the majority of its 1,200 employees and open the Galleria at 10 a.m. rather than 9 a.m. Weiner said the hours were restored in September.
LODGE AT KOELE RESORT REOPENS
The Four Seasons Resort Lana'i, The Lodge at Koele officially reopened yesterday after its Four Seasons rebranding and multimillion-dollar renovation.
The resort completed the first phase of its $50 million "enhancement program," which included the renovation of the resort's 102 guest rooms and suites and upgrades to restaurants and public areas.
Enhancements will also include the construction of a Spa and Wellness Center, expected to open mid-2008. A new Kids for All Seasons facility will also open in 2008.
The Lodge at Koele is one of two Four Seasons resorts on Lana'i. The other is the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i at Manele Bay. Castle & Cooke — which developed the resorts — and its chairman, David Murdock, have invested more than $100 million in the two properties as part of the rebranding, according to Four Seasons.
