Riki May Amano, who joined the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i in 2005 as president/executive director, has announced her resignation, effective in April. Amano is a former Big Island judge, private practice attorney and deputy attorney general, and currently is an arbitrator and mediator. The center was founded to preserve and promote Japanese culture in Hawai'i through programs and community activities. The center's board of directors will conduct the search for a new president/executive director.
AARON CRAWFORD has been named manager of the P.F. Chang's Hawai'i outlet that opened mid-September in the Hokua luxury high rise on Ala Moana. Crawford will oversee day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, scheduling, training and customer service. Also named was FALISHA GRIER, new sous chef, who will monitor kitchen staff and product quality, and assist with food preparation and presentation.
Cecilia (Amor Bitanga) Kramer has been named development director for the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i. She was most recently senior development manager for United Cerebral Palsy in Washington, D.C., where she oversaw its direct mailing campaign, individual major gifts, and online and workplace giving. The Cancer Center of Hawai'i, a research unit of the University of Hawai'i-Manoa, is one of only 61 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers nationwide.
Hawai'i native CAMERON KRAININ has been named Hawaiian Airlines' Portland, Ore., station manager. Krainin, a 19-year company veteran, is a former Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant, French interpreter and inflight supervisor.
Former city deputy corporation counsel GEORGE AOKI has been named vice president of general counsel and secretary of The Gas Co. He will provide legal advice to the company in areas such as business, real property, bankruptcy, insurance, regulatory matters, environmental matters and litigation.
DAVID JAY LEDEE has been named sushi chef at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa's Cascades Grille and Sushi Bar. Born in Okinawa, Japan, and raised in Hawai'i, Ledee will be responsible for preparing more than 60 varieties of maki and nigiri sushi and sashimi. Also, hired as sous chef at the resort's restaurants is award-winning ROBERT MURPHY, who has held executive chef, sous chef and banquet chef positions at high-end luxury destination resorts in Arizona and Texas.
Bank of Hawaii has hired T. Michael Hogan Jr. as senior vice president and manager of its Retirement Plan Services Department. Hogan has been in the investment, employee benefits and financial service industry for 19 years.
