TODAY'S MUST-SEE

"SpongeBob SquarePants Marathon," all day, Nickelodeon. There's a goofy joy to this cartoon that appeals to all — well, almost all — age groups. Bob really is a sponge with square pants. He's endlessly enthusiastic about everything. Now Nick's marathon concludes at 8 p.m. today. At 5:30 p.m. is a new episode, "Best Day Ever." Bob plans a perfect day starting with work (he loves it) and ending with Squidward's clarinet recital. Yes, things go wrong; and yes, it's funny. At about 5:45 p.m. is the episode viewers chose as their favorite. At 6 is the Nick debut of "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" (2004). The evil Plankton stole King Neptune's crown. SpongeBob and his pal Patrick look for it.

"Men in Trees," 8 p.m., ABC. Jewel, the singer-songwriter who grew up in Alaska, visits this Alaska-based show as herself. Meanwhile, a chapter of Marin's book is in New Yorker. It's about Jack, but she didn't tell him.

OF NOTE

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Melinda has visions of an arsonist who started two fires. That stirs memories of when she met her husband, five years ago.

"1 vs 100," 7 p.m., NBC. This week's "mob," which each player is pitted against, includes beauty queens, sanitation workers and "Star Trek" buffs.

"Las Vegas," 8 p.m., NBC. Adam Carolla guest-stars helping Mary (Nikki Cox) adjust her image. Meanwhile, Sam (Vanessa Marcil) is in trouble: Three of the big-spenders she lured ended up stiffing the casino.

"Close to Home," 8 p.m., CBS. When a preacher is killed possibilities grow. Was this done by his wife? Does it involve an Internet scam that took the church money?

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. A young fan's system of statistical analysis seemed to prove a baseball player was on steroids. Charlie must figure out if that system also helped lead to the player's death.

"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. This week's focal point is the founder of a raunchy video series called "Babes Being Bad." Maybe he killed his friend. Then again maybe it was a babe who got mad.
