Maui hotel gains five-star honor

The Four Seasons Resort Maui was the only Hawai'i hotel to earn a five-star rating in the Mobil Travel Guide Awards for 2007. No restaurants in the state made the prestigious five-star list.
Four hotels in Hawai'i earned four stars: Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Halekulani, The Kahala Hotel and Resort, and Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. Four restaurants earned four stars: Chef Mavro, Honolulu; Gerard's, Lahaina; La Mer, Honolulu; and Spago, Wailea.
Separately, the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai was named the top large resort hotel in Zagat Survey's 2007 U.S. hotels, resorts and restaurant listing.
UNITED CUTS FARES FOR THE HOLIDAYS
United Airlines is having a holiday sale that includes one-way fares of $187 from Hawai'i to Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and San Francisco.
The airline is promoting fares good for travel between Dec. 1 and Christmas Day, with return trips between Dec. 28 and Jan. 14. The fares may be booked on United.com.
Advertised fares to the U.S. East Coast range between $199 for Boston and $296 for Washington, D.C.
MAKESHIFT BANK OPENING DEC. 4
Bank of Hawaii said it will provide services to customers of its Kohala branch on the Big Island with a large mobile trailer while it rebuilds the office, which was damaged by the Oct. 15 earthquakes.
The trailer, equipped with night depository and an ATM, will be available for business starting on Dec. 4.
