Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, will be observed as a federal, state, and city and county holiday on Friday, Nov. 10. Here's what's open and closed on that Friday:
Government: Federal, state, and city and county offices, closed.
Libraries: Most libraries closed Friday through Sunday; selected libraries, closed Saturday through Monday. (www.librarieshawaii.org).
TheBus: Operating on a Saturday schedule. (www.thebus.org, 848-5555.)
Handi-van: Operating.
Parking: Free on-street parking, except Kalakaua Avenue metered stalls, makai side of Kapi'olani Park; holiday tow-away-zone parking as permitted by sign; municipal lot meters must be fed.
Traffic: No coning.
Trash: Usual pickups.
Landfills, convenience centers: Open.
Open markets: Open, Friday; closed Saturday.
City golf courses, zoo, botanical gardens: Open.
Mail: Regular service on Friday. For Saturday: All post offices closed; no regular business or residential delivery; no pick-up from (blue) boxes; some Express Mail.
