Early birds will get the free trees or shrubs (one per family) at the annual Arbor Day giveaways today.
On O'ahu, head for:
The Hawaiian Electric Co.'s Kahe power plant, 92-200 Farrington Highway
The Urban Garden Center in Pearl City, 955 Kamehameha Highway
HECO's Honolulu facility, 820 Ward Ave.
HECO's Ko'olau base yard, 1387 Ulupi'i St., Kailua
Wahiawa Botanical Garden, 1396 California Ave.
Waimea Valley Audubon Center, 59-864 Kamehameha Highway
The O'ahu sites begin the giveaway at 7 a.m., with the exception of Waimea Valley Audubon Center, which begins at 9 a.m.
On the Neighbor Islands:
Maui: Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, 150 Kanaloa Ave., Kahului, 9 a.m.
Kaua'i: Lihu'e Macy's store's parking lot, 8 a.m.
Big Island: Hawaiian Electric Light Co.'s main office in Hilo, 1200 Kilauea Ave., 10 a.m; and the Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, 82-6188 Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, 8:30 a.m.
