Surgery ends season for OSU's Ah-Hoy

Oregon State freshman setter Camilla Ah-Hoy underwent surgery yesterday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in her left knee.
"I was pretty bummed at first, but I'm OK now," she said. "I'm just excited for rehab."
Ah-Hoy, a 2006 Kahuku graduate and two-time Advertiser All-State first-team selection, injured her knee when she landed on a teammate after she went up for a block in a game against Arizona State Oct. 13.
"Half of my foot landed on her foot, and half of my foot was on the ground," Ah-Hoy said.
"I thought it was just a sprain, it wasn't that bad. When I landed and I was on the ground. I was holding the back of my knee because that's where it hurt, not the front.
"The next day, the front of my knee started hurting."
Ah-Hoy said she isn't superstitious, but an assistant coach pointed out to her, "You hurt your knee on Friday the 13th, and you're having your surgery on Halloween."
Ah-Hoy's father, Irwin, traveled to Oregon to be with Camilla.
"He said she's doing fine. It (the surgery) took about an hour and a half," said Mona Ah-Hoy, Camilla's mother.
"It's just one rotation that she's playing the middle, and that's the rotation she got hurt," said Mona Ah-Hoy, who added that it is Camilla's first major injury.
Camilla averaged 7.32 assists, 0.25 kills, 1.77 digs, and 0.30 blocks per game.
Freshman libero Tricia Yoshimura (Hawai'i Baptist '06) averages an OSU-high 2.63 digs per game.
MORE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Apana set a conference record for digs in a three-game match when she recorded 31 in a sweep over Lipscomb Oct. 21. She also had 29 digs in a five-game win over Belmont Oct. 20.
Apana is second in the league with 5.60 digs per game.
FOOTBALL
Assily recorded 12 tackles in Orange Coast's 23-17 overtime loss to Saddleback Oct. 21. He had 10 solo tackles, caused a fumble, intercepted a pass, and broke up another.
He was also an honorable mention selection this week after making nine tackles (six solo), one tackle for a loss, one forced fumble, two quarterback hurries, a returned an interception 72 yards for a touchdown and a sack in a 21-6 win over Santa Ana Saturday.
MEN'S SOCCER
DeVey beat his defender and shot to the far post in the 69th minute for his 19th career goal. It places him in a four-way tie for 10th place all-time.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Nitta scored twice in games last week. She scored on a 20-yard free kick to the top right corner with less than five minutes left in the first half in a 3-0 win over Concordia Thursday.
She also scored in the 25th minute in a 4-0 win over Fresno Pacific Tuesday.
Sophomore forward Sarah Yoro (Mililani '05) scored in the 59th minute, beating a defender and shooting to the far post against Fresno Pacific.
The NAIA's top-ranked Azusa Pacific earned the top seed in the NAIA Region II playoffs.
Haines played in 13 games, starting five for the Ravens, ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA/adidas Division II poll.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Macdonald completed the 6K race in 23:22.22.
