Former Big Island state Sen. Malama Solomon, a Democrat running for lieutenant governor, has been fined $150 by the state Campaign Spending Commission and is facing an additional $50 penalty for failing to file campaign-finance reports on time.
Solomon was fined for missing deadlines for the past three primary election reports and could be fined for missing the deadline for the latest general election report, according to the commission.
The campaign has been working with the commission to file its reports electronically, and they are now posted on the commission's Web site.
"We kind of got everything up to par," Solomon said.
Solomon has raised $78,280 for her campaign, including a $25,000 family loan.
She is facing Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona in next Tuesday's election. Aiona, a Republican, has raised $497,870.
