BEACH BOYS JULY 8

The Beach Boys, led by original members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, will headline a July 8 benefit concert at the Waikiki Shell. It's a benefit for the Polynesian Voyaging Society and salutes 30 years of the voyaging canoe Hokule'a.

Before the Beach Boys take the stage, there's a "A Musical Tribute to Hokule'a," featuring Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom, Ken Makuakane and the Hokule'a All Star Band and others. The canoe will be on the beach at Sans Souci earlier that day.

The Shell will be open from 4 p.m. for family picnicking. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets — $25 lawn in advance, $35 the day of the event; $55 upper terrace; and $75 lower terrace — go on sale Saturday at Ticketmaster outlets and the Blaisdell box office. (877) 750-4400, www.ticketmaster.com.

Joe Moore rides into Mamiya Theatre in the world premiere of "Unlikely Lawman," a tale Moore adapted from Robert Broomall's western "The Lawmen."
