SALVATION ARMY CELEBRITY COUTURE

All year long, Salvation Army volunteers sort through thousands of donations for the best in new and slightly used clothing and accessories. Items are put aside for the annual Celebrity Fashion Show, which is this Saturday. Models include KITV 4's Pamela Young and Mahealani Richardson, Kim Gennaula of KGMB 9 and Vivian Aiona, wife of Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona.

A fashion boutique will open at 9 a.m. and a luncheon and show begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki. Show proceeds benefit the Salvation Army's social service programs. Tickets are $50. Reservations required: Call Natalie at 440-1859.

L'OCCITANE, LUXI OPEN AT ALA MOANA

That little slice of Provence, L'Occitane, opens today at at Ala Moana Center, mall level mauka, where Rafael used to be. Available is the entire line of natural products for body, bath and home, such as its trademark shea butter, a moisturizer made from nuts by women in Burkina Faso.

L'Occitane's visual merchandising, with wrought-iron fixtures, tile flooring and vintage furniture from Provence, is meant to transport customers to the south of France. For Mother's Day, a new fragrance has been added: Green Tea with Jasmine. It comes in a body mist, shea butter scrub and floating candles.

Also new at Ala Moana is workout-wear shop LUXi. Owners (and sisters) Ashley Chan, 31, Jein Park, 27, and Michelle Park, 24, describe it as a "Nikewomen boutique." (Their parents own Regency Sports in Waikiki, which also specializes in Nike women's clothing. The store, on the third level just outside Neiman Marcus, holds its grand opening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, when 10 percent of all proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

MAKE A FABULOUS FABERGE-LIKE EGG

Eileen Tokita of Waikiki has an elegant hobby: She embellishes handbags and eggs with Swarovski crystals. Now she's sharing her crafty secrets in a class at the Halekulani on Saturday. A full-day class (9 a.m.-4 p.m., including lunch) costs $125 and a half-day class (9 a.m.-noon) is $105. Full-day participants will turn a duck egg into a jewelry box, while half-day participants will use a pheasant egg to create a charming bird-and-flower panorama. Reservations a must: Call Kimi Matar at 377-3636.

BE JEWELED AND PERFUMED

Just in time for Mother's Day, Neiman Marcus holds Be Jeweled this week, with trunk shows and special collections of well-known designers as well as emerging jewelry designers. A highlight: a Henry Dunay trunk show of hand-engraved textured pieces and rare gemstones.

The week also marks The Scent Event, featuring new scents and old classics from such iconic companies as Chanel, Bulgari, Jo Malone and Annick Goutal.

ALOHA WEAR, COLLECTORS' STYLE

For those who love the Hawai'i All-Collectors Show at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, there's no need to wait until July this year. Ilene Wong, producer of the popular show, will present an unusual collection of aloha apparel and accessories Friday at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach.

On hand will be one of the Islands' foremost professional collectors of vintage and rare aloha shirts, available to talk story.

The show is part of the hotel's Kalakaua Experience, a series of free educational programs about Hawai'i's cultural heritage.
